This is going to be released in Japan on August 6, 2022. And sometime in the fall in the US, I guess. We’re able to get these spoilers because in Japan there was the world premiere last night and these are coming from organic selection 957 on Reddit and op news 2022 on Twitter.
So before I get into it, let me just explain to you what this movie One Piece Film Red is about in case you’re unaware. So the story is set on the island of music Elysia, where Uta the world’s greatest diva holds her first ever live concert and reveals herself to the public.
The straw hats, pirates, Marines, and fans from across the world gathered to enjoy Uta’s voice which has been described as otherworldly. However, the event begins with a shocking revelation that Uta is the daughter of Shanks. So yeah, Shanks is like the big selling point here.
When we found out that there was gonna be a movie “One Piece Film Red” centered around him last year we all got super hyped. So in this spoiler, we’re gonna find out was the hype justified or was kind of just clickbait. So first of all, Uta is not the biological daughter of Shanks. So this doesn’t surprise me that much. Because first of all, One Piece movies are kind of weird with the Canon. Sometimes they kind of tie into the actual legit canon of the manga, but even when they do it kind of gets messy and the movies are never really addressed in the actual manga anyway.
I mean, it’s just very rare in the first place for a battle manga series to do that, but Uta not being his biological daughter, I think fixes that and kind of keeps this One Piece Film Red movie in a world of its own, which most of us assumed was going to be the case.
But anyway, it turns out that the red-haired pirates had found Uta in a treasure box after pilfering some treasure. This is a flashback to when Shanks was younger and they find her crying inside of the box and Shanks calms her by singing a little.

Then he has a flashback of what we can assume is him looking up and seeing Roger and his crew. After that, he says something along the lines of it must be destiny. So we can assume that Roger did find Shanks as a baby and raised him on his boat most probably after what happened at Gods Valley but nothing about Gods Valley is mentioned though.
So I’m not exactly sure how that makes us assume that the scene in the One Piece Film Red movie is kind of like a perspective of baby Shanks maybe but I personally always assume that, that was Shanks’ origin. Talked about it in this article right here about Shanks probably being a Celestial Dragon considering that we know that Roger and Shanks teamed up at the God Valley incident 30 years ago and that incident involved them protecting the Celestial Dragons against rocks I guess.
If you connect the dots, you can kind of see that oh, that’s maybe where Shanks came from, especially since he has such unusual rapport with the Gorosei. So Shanks abandon Uta so that she could live free and not be targeted for her powers. So through the trailer, we kind of assumed that he abandoned her I mean, especially because you know, she kind of grew up without us knowing that Shanks was her father.
But apparently, she has some kind of power that allows her to create and control physical manifestations of musical staves, which are like the horizontal lines on musical notes I guess.
Canon
She eventually goes on to essentially become the top Twitch streamer of the One Piece world and pop idol at the same time. So now we’re going to talk about one of the big things that I was most excited about for this film and it’s “does Shanks fight?
Do we get to see him get his hands dirty and use some of his abilities or get to see what his fighting style is like because that’s something that we haven’t seen in the series yet? We’ve only really seen him clash with white beard and Makino. So, Shanks does have a fight scene with his sword but it is just a normal fight.

Just imagine when Zoro fights normally and does not use any style. Also, many who had watched the film said Shanks is cool in this film. So it’s kind of disappointing. I’m not gonna lie. I mean I’m not mad at it.
I’m sure it’s an excellent film but I was expecting to at least see Shanks use some of his conqueror Haki style which heavily implies that he has at least from the video games, he always has some kind of crazy manipulation of like Conqueror Haki lightning.
And I’m assuming that that’s ultimately what Shanks his style is going to be like, especially because of Rogers’s divine departure or aversion to divinity attack that he uses on Oden I was expecting Shanks to kind of fight like that, you know because he’s heavily influenced by Roger. Especially because you know, they both don’t have devil fruit.

One Piece Film Red Full Movie
But no, we’re not even getting a little taste of it in this One Piece Film Red movie. We’re just seeing him fight normally, which I guess it’s better than nothing. So, Zoro and Sanji fight the last boss, which is huge, but everyone pairs up with an unexpected person at the end of that scene when everyone fights in groups, but together is pretty cool.
So that’s pretty exciting. And that alone probably makes this One Piece Film Red movie worth watching because that’s one of the things that I love about the One Piece movies is that you’re going to see battles and team-ups and character interactions that you normally wouldn’t see in the series.
One Piece Film Red Manga
Maybe never will see it in the series. Shanks knocks out Momonga with his CoC Conquerors Haki. Kizaru is sweating to see Shanks. Both Kizaru and Fujitora decide to retreat after seeing Shanks’ Haki. Partly because their fight will cause damage to civilians. Alright, so this is awesome talking to you about Vice Admiral Momonga. By the way.
Understandably, he would job the Shanks here I mean, some people have to, right. And Kizaru and Fujitora being here is kind of a surprise. I mean admirals do usually show up in these movies, but both of them being here and just to ultimately run away from Shanks is kind of part of the course but still exciting.
Katakuri is fighting together with Shanks. They are alongside one another. All right, so here’s one of the crazy team-ups and just characters meeting that I was talking about. This is pretty amazing. First of all, Katakuri is in this One Piece Film Red movie, you haven’t seen him actually in the series since the whole cake but the fact that he’s here and likes fighting with Shanks is pretty amazing. And I can’t wait to see the sequence.
Okay, so here’s one of the two huge moments in this movie, I guess. And it’s Luffy does use gear five in this movie and apparently, it’s at the very end of the last fight and Luffy’s last punch. He goes into gear 5. However, it’s not on screen for long and you can’t see many details besides a close of his face and his back from far away. So to be honest, I didn’t expect to see Gear 5 in this One Piece Film Red movie but now I’m not surprised how it’s playing out because it kind of makes sense.

This movie was in development for you know over a year I guess right and considering that gear 5 was only revealed a couple of months ago it means that Eiichiro Oda had given them information on this stuff way before it was going to be revealed to the public in the actual manga. So, you know understand that we’re not getting like a full-blown look on it. But, you know appreciate that we get to see the movie and you know what it’s going to be like animated even if it’s just for a couple of seconds I guess.
Uta is the final boss and the fight is fire. So this is a pleasant surprise actually, I was expecting the final boss to be that guy Gordon that we saw but no huge twist here and it’s Uta and I guess she becomes some kind of giant monster or something because apparently, that’s what happens unless that’s Gordon who does but I got a really like this and this is a good way to get you out of the picture.
I mean, I don’t know if she’s dying because that would be kind of a stretch to kill off a character like this unless she like kills herself by accident or something. But this is pretty cool. And I guess she’s the one who’s getting punched by Luffy and gear 5 here possibly.

But now we come to the big massive moment and something that we’ve been wondering since this One Piece Film Red movie was announced more than anything I suppose and that does Luffy and Shanks meet in this movie and they kind of do because Shanks and Luffy kind of acknowledged each other but they don’t meet face to face in the film.
So I’m not entirely sure what that means they kind of acknowledge each other but they don’t meet face to face. And to be honest, I kind of expected this because Luffy meeting Shanks is one of the biggest storylines in the series, aside from you know finding the One Piece itself. so there’s no way a moment like that can be revealed in a movie, so I didn’t expect it to happen. And I was wondering how they would handle something like that because they gotta have something because like I said, this One Piece Film Red movie revolves around Shanks, or at least it was billed as such now it just seems like it’s like a Yoda movie I guess.
About One Piece Film Red Movie (2022)
I guess we’re just gonna have to see how it plays out and how they handle this. But you know, I guess it’s better than nothing like I keep saying with most of this but I’m just curious about what this is acknowledging each other is if they’re not meeting face to face.

But yeah, that’s pretty much it for this One Piece Film Red spoilers seem like it’s going to be a fine movie and I guess it met most of our expectations as long as yours weren’t too high, and to be honest, they shouldn’t be because it’s just a One Piece movie after all, but for what it is, I think it’s going to be great and I’m probably going to watch it in theaters once it comes to the US probably in like October or November, I assume.
