Benaiah Fiu was born on June 6, 1991, in Auckland, New Zealand. He moved to the Gold Coast with his family when he was six years old. He developed a passion for music at an early age, learning to play the guitar, piano, drums, and bass.

He attended Palm Beach Currumbin High School, where he formed his first band, The Furies, with his friends. He later studied music at Griffith University and the Queensland Conservatorium.

He was a prolific songwriter and performer, releasing several albums and EPs with his bands. He also collaborated with other artists, such as Amy Shark, Matt Corby, and The Veronicas. Mo’s Desert Clubhouse, where Fiu had performed his last gig, also posted a tribute on their website, saying: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Benaiah Fiu, who graced our stage on Friday night with Strange Motel. He was an amazing musician and a lovely person, who lit up the room with his talent and personality. He was a regular and a friend of our venue, and we will miss him terribly. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, bandmates, and fans.”
