CM of All States Will Meet PM Modi on March 17, 2021, Over COVID-19 Surge

PM Narendra Modi announced a meeting with all Chief Ministers in order to discuss the rising cases of coronavirus in many states. The virtual interaction will take take place on Wednesday according to sources. On Monday i.e. March 15, 2021, India witnessed a surge of over 26,000 cases in the country which is the highest this year.
For several days now, cases have been increasing every single day. The big worry is Maharashtra and new restrictions have been imposed in the state 50% capacity in restaurants and movie halls. There will be no social, political, and religious gatherings.
Guests at weddings have been capped at 50 and these measures will now remain in force till the 31st of March. The center has been very concerned and this is something even the head of the Vaccine Administration Committee as well as ETIOS member Dr. Paul had recently said when he started talking about the kind of lockdowns that Maharashtra is witnessing.
So definitely for the center, it is a big concern. This is the time when India was expected to move ahead but unfortunately, we seem to be at a phase where we seem to be starting all over again especially in Maharashtra where Nagpur recently has implemented its lockdown. Maharashtra definitely in terms of COVID cases has been seeing the rise of over 15,000 cases today for over 16,000 cases.
The kind of lockdown that has been implemented in a few areas of Maharashtra looks like those measures may become more extreme in the upcoming days considering the way more and more restrictions are being imposed.
If cases do not come down, that is something that the state government would have to resort to and that something even Uddhav Thackeray has warned that if people do not wear their masks, if they do not follow social distancing, then it will compel them to enforce a lockdown and that’s something people shouldn’t want to happen.
