A New Spike in COVID-19 Cases where almost 40,000 Fresh Cases Registered in Last 24 Hours in India

A worrying spike in India as it has recorded 39,746 new COVID cases in the matter of the last 24 hours. The highest since the 29th of November 2020. 154 COVID deaths have also been reported in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of cases that have been reported since the 29th of November.
As per reports, 41,810 cases were reported then. And now in the last 24 hours, we’ve seen a huge spike of over 39,700 cases. What is causing this spike and which are the worst affected and not just Maharashtra? Let’s read this article.
In the last 24 hours, we recorded the most number of cases since 29th November last year. So last week, we recorded 39,726 cases. The last highest number was 41,810. In the last 24 hours, the top five states with the highest number of cases are as expected Maharashtra at number one with 25,833 cases, Punjab with 2369 cases, Kerala with 1899 cases, Karnataka with 1488 cases, and Gujarat at number five with 1276 cases.
Now the top five states with the highest number of death are similar but Tamil Nadu has made it to the top five here. So Maharashtra is again, its number one with 58 deaths in the last 24 hours. Punjab is number two with 32 deaths, Kerala is number third with 15 death. So these are the same top three as the highest number of cases.
But number four is Tamil Nadu which has recorded nine deaths in the last 24 hours. Number five is Karnataka with eight deaths. The cases are worrying and 39,726 new cases are reporting in the last 24 hours. And this is being called the second wave of sorts in many areas, and many states are including new restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Maharashtra alone has logged 25,833 fresh cases of COVID in the last 24 hours is the highest spike since the outbreak of the pandemic last year becoming the epicenter of the second peak of this virus. In the same period of 58 deaths have also taken place a marking a sharp rise in both the number of cases as well as the number of deaths.
On March 01, the positivity rate was around 11% for the state of Maharashtra which grew to more than 16%, and over the last 24 hours, the figure has dropped marginally to 13.35%. Mumbai has reported a spike of 2877 new COVID cases.
The Maharashtra government has prohibited all social and cultural activities, political as well as religious gatherings in the state to curb the further spread of covid 19 in Maharashtra.
