Pakistan Will Not Import White Sugar & Cotton from India after Cabinet Decision

Pakistan cabinet on Thursday night rejected Prime Minister Imran Khan’s decision to allow the import of white sugar by India. Imran Khan, who is also minister in charge of commerce approved the economy coordination committee’s recommendation to allow sugar import. However, some ministers from the Imran administration rejected the proposal over the removal of special status from the Jammu and Kashmir region. Today the cabinet reviewed the ECC decision to import sugar and cotton from India and the cabinet after the debate decided to defer the matter. This is what the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said.

Now, this is, of course, the latest that we’re tracking right now where Prime Minister Imran Khan of Pakistan agreed for the imports of cotton and the trade gates will open again, between India and Pakistan, as India and Pakistan are facing one of the dullest and one of the lowest hit relations between the two countries which went down the spiral. As Pakistan and India, it seemed that some positive developments are emerging between India and Pakistan, but after this particular cabinet meeting decision, where the cabinet has rejected Indian import, it seems that even though Imran Khan is seeking truth, you know, with India, the cabinet and the parties within Pakistan do not agree his government people do not agree.

Imran Khan was having pressure and other from the other political parties, especially the opposition, that’s why the cabinet had decided not to import this sugar and cotton, which they had decided earlier. Ties between India and Pakistan downgraded in especially after the 2019 Jammu and Kashmir status that was abrogated and angered Pakistan.

After Imran Khan came in power and become the Prime Minister of Pakistan. But he was facing that he was not able to serve the people of Pakistan. And that’s why we have seen that protests were going on on the streets of Pakistan, whether the people of Pakistan, whether the opposition of Pakistan, they tried their best to remove him from the chair, but because he was having a majority and that’s why they were not successful.

And now if they will decide, you know, we know that for last many years the firing was going on Pakistan is the biggest exporter of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and rest of the country and that was what happening from Pakistan at the ground. The top-level terrorist commanders are sitting in Pakistan and getting help from the Pakistani army and the Pakistani government to run a terror factory over there and then use the same terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir and the rest of India.

But after the world pressure, we have seen that Pakistan was not able to come out of the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). But, Pakistan started moving the dialogue with India. And we have seen that only a few weeks back how this decision came that Pakistan and the Indian army will maintain our ceasefire all along the line of control and the international border area in the Jammu and Kashmir. But people were surprised at how this decision came from both the country and especially from the Pakistan side who can not stop firing who cannot stop pushing terrorists in the Jammu and Kashmir but they have taken this decision only because of the world pressure and the pressure of the Government of India.

So they decided but people and other political parties of Pakistan were surprised at how it is it has happened. So that’s why now if they will move ahead, and try to show the world and Pakistan that we are going to you know, go ahead with the other talks with India. That’s why we are starting import from India like sugar and cotton.

So this is something which is not digestive to adopt other political parties and other people there in Pakistan. Shah Mahmood Qureshi knows that they must be facing heat there in Pakistan and that’s why they defer this decision of importing sugar in the cotton from India.

That’s why the decision which was taken earlier that has been delayed and canceled by Pakistan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who is known for speaking unnecessarily. His speech to the media and say that we will not start import till the government of India will reverse this order of abrogation of Article 370 in the Jammu and Kashmir and will not import sugar and cotton here.
