India Covid Vaccination Phase 3 Started – Anyone Above 45 Years Age Eligible to take Covid Vaccine Jabs

India has entered the third phase of vaccination today on 1 April 2021, as citizens above the age of 45 will now be able to take the Covid Vaccine Jabs without having to show any Certificate of any comorbidities. Earlier this week, the center wrote a letter to all states asking them to vaccinate everyone in the eligible category in districts that are witnessing the surge in Covid cases.

The center has also asked the states to regularly review vaccine stocks and consumption to identify gap areas and to maintain vaccine wastage at less than 1%. This will also ensure timely utilization of available stock. The government has also revised its vaccination target from 20 lakh jabs a day to 50 lakh jabs per day amidst the increasing number of cases. Over six crore 39 lakh doses of COVID vaccine have been administered across India till now with over 5.5 crore first doses being administered.

What is needed for anyone who wants to come before vaccination needs to remember is that you must carry a valid ID card e.g. Aadhaar card, a voter card, a driving license, or any other government ID which shows both your age and your proof of address.

We’ve seen a couple of cases here where people had come in, but with the COVID registration, the online registration they had done for the vaccine, but they were not carrying an ID card. So they had to wait till somebody from their home could WhatsApp a photo of their ID card to them. The ID card is very very necessary.

But of course, there is no proof of comorbidities that is required anyone above 45 can come and get their vaccination. Private hospitals are charging 250 rupees for the jab. Government hospitals are giving the vaccination for free for anybody (who is eligible). But anyone who is going for this vaccination needs to remember to carry their ID needs to remember to register online before they come here.

If they have not registered, there are walking vaccinations available after 3 pm for anybody who cannot do the online pre-registration. But what is also important is that you must wear a mask, you must mean social distancing. And you must maintain hand sanitization because as all doctors are saying that just because you get the vaccine does not mean that you’re completely immune. The vaccine is necessary to create herd immunity but does not necessarily mean that you will never get COVID you could still get a mild infection of COVID.
