Sputnik V Vaccine Priced At Rs 995 In India, First Shot Administered By Dr. Reddy’s In Hyderabad

Hyderabad – Given the fact that initially Sputnik V was set to be priced around 700 rupees also, but these are doses that are being imported from Russia. And the sense that we got from Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories when he spoke with us also is that at least for the time being the prices could be a little more than what was expected.

Well, initially we thought that the vaccine would come earlier but we have seen it’s taken a few weeks for it to be finally administered in Hyderabad as the second batch of vaccines arrived today as well from Russia, and these are imported.

So they are being batch tested in Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh, which is taking some time but as far as the price is concerned, we’ve also heard from sources that once the production begins in India, the current price at which the vaccine is being cited as could go lower, but that would still depend on when the production starts.

As for the government, it will start somewhere in July and that’s still some time away. So the access to vaccines from Russia which is complete to the common man and by how much time will that take is the real question as production ramp-up is still going to take some time. The first dose of the vaccine has been given in Hyderabad already is what Dr. Reddys Labs.
