India’s FDA Cancels License Of Johnson and Johnson Baby Powder, Move Over Issues With Quality

New Delhi– The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has canceled the manufacturing license of Johnson and Johnson’s baby powder stating that the product did not pass the quality checks. And according to the regulatory body, the popular baby powder may affect the pH balance of newborn baby skin.

The FDA has also issued show cause notice to the multinational cosmetics firm under the drugs and Administration Act of 1940. Well, Johnson and Johnson has also been directed to recall all stock of the product from the market. And the jJ&J has challenged this move in court and said in an official statement, that it does not accept the administration’s decision.

Of course, there comes the big news. India’s FDA has taken stern action on the production of J&J’s baby powder. The reasons are that it did not pass through the health checks and women claim that J&J powder is linked to cancer and does not suit the newborn baby’s skin.

These developments are taking place as far as the banning of Johnson and Johnson’s baby powder that has taken place now.

Doctor Deepali Bharadwaj has talked to us regarding this Johnson and Johnson powder ban.

We always believe in lots of people, as a doctor, I always see over the years, people think that international products will be of better quality.

So India is setting standards and doing these tests. But I also feel that it’s not only Johnson and Johnson powder, it’s also several products, which don’t even have brands just have tickers and are available in the market, which can be more harmful to the patient than, you know, give health and good benefits.

So it’s not just Johnson and Johnson, which has been proven on a global platform, we should be testing all the many other products, which a lot of Indians are using every day.

All right. And also, do you think that other Johnson and Johnson products, I mean, it’s not just the powder there, or the baby cream, the baby oil, the whole of the set that Johnson and Johnson sell for newborn babies are also going to somehow face this sort of a crackdown.

Lately, it’s more about, you know, it’s more about ethics of the company and how they are running their company. So if Johnson and Johnson have been thrown at a global platform that the talcum powder is harmful, I would definitely as a doctor be very scared to suggest their other products.

Dr. Deepali said:-

Business loss for Johnson and Johnson for doing this kind of activity with this talcum powder. So a lot of goodwill has definitely gone down as a doctor I have over the years used it personally and suggested it to a lot of patients.

But now I’m scared because I’m very particular about what I’m suggesting to my patients. So it’s a huge fear factor, but I feel if a big brand like this can do then brands which are like no names, we need to be very scared and skeptical about them also and thorough testing and checking should be done by the Indian government for several brands in the market, which are readily available.
