India Objects to US Envoy Donald Bloom’s Visit To Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK)
India on Friday objected to US ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Bloom‘s visit to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, where he repeatedly referred to the region as Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The Ministry of External Affairs, a spokesperson said that the Modi government’s objections to the visit and meetings in POK by the US envoy have been conveyed to Washington. During his visit to POK, Bloom repeatedly mentioned the occupied Indian territory as Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
It is the second high-profile visit by a US diplomat to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after the US, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar visited the region. In a strongly worded statement India has said:-
“She visited a part of Jammu and Kashmir illegally occupied by Pakistan. If such a politician wishes to practice her narrow-minded politics at home, that may be her business but violating our territorial integrity in its pursuit makes it ours.”
The matter at hand is about India objecting to the US ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blooms’ visit to POK, where he repeatedly referred to the region as Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Not realizing the sensitivity of his visit.
There seems to be some sort of apathy at play here. On behalf of the US ambassador to Pakistan. The MEA spokesperson said that this was objectionable. And this is a meeting that should have happened.
Several concerning things and concerning developments have taken place in the past few days. It began Of course with that F16 deal between the United States and Pakistan. Now we are seeing Donald Bloom the United States representative visit Pakistan-occupied Kashmir this week.
Now what is not believed to sit well with India is that Bloom repeatedly referred to POK as Azad Kashmir is the term which is used by Pakistan erroneously to refer to the area.
This happened of course during his tour and now India does not appreciate references to the areas he mentioned it. According to MEA, a very strong objection has been conveyed to the Biden government. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs criticized earlier remember us Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s trip as well to be okay in April of this year and referred to her as a proponent of narrow-minded politics.
Yesterday MEA also referred to this visit in their weekly press briefing and conveyed very strong objections and concerns. Now, Omar template to incite India during her visit to POK, by raising the topic of the Modi government repealing article 370 which was very much our internal matter.
India is very right in raising its objection to the United States of America. What the recent trip of the US ambassador to Pakistan occupied Kashmir. It is an Indian territory, which is illegally occupied by Pakistan. And India is very right in raising its objection to a country that we consider our closest strategic partner.
I think it’s very important that India-US Strategic Partnership is nurtured properly, and we must respect, mutual sensitivities and concerns in this relationship. This relationship is based on shared values, shared interests, shared opportunities, and shared challenges. It has a vision for the future, as President Obama has said that this partnership is a defining partnership of the 21st century.
India-US Strategic Partnership is also significant for establishing a rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond. So if we have to nurture this partnership, then I think it is very important that both sides understand each other’s insecurities and concerns too.
We understand that the United States had a certain strategic interest in Pakistan, but the United States of America should handle its relationship with Pakistan in such a way that it does not make any adverse impact on the Indian interest that I think must be kept in mind by the US side. It will be very important for you know, to continue nurturing and deepening our India, and US strategic partnership.
I think nothing should be done in such a way that makes any kind of adverse impact on this very significant India US Strategic Partnership.
