Callum DiCenso Died: A Pembroke Hero Who Fought Leukemia, Passed Away at 32

Callum DiCenso, a well-known and beloved resident of Pembroke, Massachusetts, passed away on January 4, 2024, after a long battle with leukemia. He was 32 years old.
Who Was Callum DiCenso?
Callum was born on June 15, 1991, in Boston, Massachusetts, to parents John and Mary DiCenso. He grew up in Pembroke, a small town in Plymouth County, where he attended Pembroke High School and graduated in 2009. He was a star athlete, excelling in soccer, basketball, and baseball. He was also a talented musician, playing the guitar, piano, and drums. He had a passion for music and often performed at local venues and events.
DiCenso went on to study business administration at Boston University, where he met his wife, Jessica. They married in 2015 and settled in Pembroke, where they opened a successful bakery called Callum’s Cakes. Callum was known for his delicious and creative cakes, which he baked with love and care. He was a generous and kind-hearted person, who always helped others in need. He was involved in many charitable causes and organizations, such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the American Red Cross, and the Pembroke Historical Society.
Callum DiCenso was diagnosed with leukemia in 2022, after experiencing fatigue and bruising. He underwent chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, but his condition worsened over time. He fought bravely and remained optimistic, despite the pain and suffering. He was surrounded by his family and friends, who supported him throughout his journey. He passed away peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital, with his wife by his side.
Callum is survived by his wife, Jessica; his parents, John and Mary; his brother, Liam; his sister, Emma; his grandparents, Frank and Helen; and many other relatives and friends. He is also remembered by his loyal customers, who loved his cakes and his smile.
A funeral service will be held on January 10, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the St. John’s Lutheran Church on Black Bay Road, followed by a burial at the Pembroke Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Delta Dental Centre, which was founded by his friend and fellow Pembroke resident, Dr. Bruno Jurmalietis, who passed away in 2020.
Callum DiCenso’s family and friends have requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, in honor of Callum’s memory and his fight against blood cancer.
DiCenso was a remarkable person, who touched the lives of many people with his kindness, generosity, and talent. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him. He will always be in our hearts and minds. Rest in peace, Callum. You are a true Pembroke hero.
