Christopher Toth Obituary, And Death Cause: What Happened to Christopher Toth?

On Tuesday, December 26, 2023, Christopher Brian Toth, a 40-year-old corrections officer at Lindsay Jail, died at his home. He was the beloved son of Deborah and the late Brian Toth of Lakefield, and the big brother of Megan, Lauren, Thomas, and the late Kimberley Anne Toth. He also leaves behind his grandmother Margaret Toth, and many other relatives, friends, and coworkers who loved him.

Who Was Christopher Toth?

Christopher Toth was born on July 3, 1983, in Peterborough, Ontario. He went to school in Lakefield, where he was an active and adventurous kid. He played various sports, such as hockey, soccer, baseball, and golf. He also liked camping, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling with his family and friends.

Christopher had a strong sense of duty and compassion. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves in 2000, and became a combat engineer with the 2 Combat Engineer Regiment in Petawawa. He was sent to Afghanistan in 2006, where he took part in Operation Medusa, one of the fiercest battles of the war. He received the General Campaign Star for his service.

After coming back from Afghanistan, Christopher followed his dream of becoming a corrections officer. He graduated from the Ontario Correctional Services College in 2008, and started working at Lindsay Jail. He was a hardworking and respected member of the correctional staff, who always treated his coworkers and inmates with professionalism and kindness. He was also a proud member of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Local 368.

He Loved His Family and His Friends

Toth was a loyal and caring son, brother, and friend, who always put his family first. He had a special bond with his mother Deborah, who he called every day to talk to her and see how she was doing. He was also a supportive and playful big brother to his siblings, who he loved to make fun of and joke with. A celebration of Christopher’s life will be held at the Highland Park Funeral Centre on Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A private family service will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warriors Canada or the Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated by the family.

Christopher Toth was a son, brother, and friend, who served and lived well. He touched the lives of many people with his kindness, generosity, and humor. He will be forever remembered and missed by all who knew him.
