BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma Campaign Ban Reduced to 24 Hours from 48 Hours

The poll panel has now reduced the campaign ban on the ASSAM Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma from 48 hours to 24 hours. Earlier, the Election Commission has banned Himanta Biswa Sarma for campaigning for 48 hours. The poll panel of action comes after Himanta Sarma threaten Congress’s ally and Bodoland People’s Front chief added value on the 29th of March. So right now, there is some relief for Himanta Biswa Sarma. That ban has been reduced from 48 hours to 24 hours.
The Election Commission has haft the election campaign restriction of Assam minister and senior BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma. It was earlier 48 hours now he has been allowed only to sit out for 24 hours, which means that he will now be able to campaign on the last day of the campaign, which is tomorrow. All the more crucial because it is his constituency that he was scheduled to campaign at. Himanta Biswa Sarma was held down by the Election Commission, saying that he had threatened the opposition party saying that they will be sent to jail and some central sort of exercises would be used for that. And this has not been taken kindly earlier by EC.
The EC has come up with a fresh order where it has reduced the ban on Himanta Biswa Sarma’s campaign, it has been reduced by 24 hours. So from tomorrow onwards, he would be able to campaign which would mean that tomorrow being the last day of campaigning for the third and the last phase of the Assam poll. He would be available for campaigning for the party. So this is good news for Mr. Himanta, good news for the BJP. However, according to the order, it is mentioned that Sarma has sent out an unconditional apology letter to the Election commission. EC has considered that letter.
Also, one of the key factors the Commission has considered while reducing the ban. And it has been cited in the order by the Commission is the fact that Mr. Sarma is also a candidate in a constituency Jalukbari, which also goes to polls on the sixth of April and tomorrow is the last date. So that commission giving him one last hope to campaign in his constituency. So this is going to be a major boost for the BJP that their star campaigner would be back campaigning for the last day of the campaign.
However, already that Congress today organized a protest rally in Guwahati against what Congress has claimed that has been manipulation of EVMs. Given the fact that there is much outrage over the incident wherein Karimganj on the first of April after the second phase of polling ended the car of BJP candidate was used by polling officials after their official vehicle broke down midway while returning from a polling station.
