Makkal Needhi Maiam has finalized the seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections with founder Kamal Haasan. They said that the party will contest on 154 of the 234 seats MNM.

Kamal Haasan revealed to the public that his party left 40 seats each for its two alliance partners. The names of his allies are Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi and All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi.

So the seat-sharing formula that has been reached upon by MNM giving 40 seats each for AISMK and Indhiya. 154 of the 234 seats is what the Makkal Needhi Maiam will be contesting on that’s the latest as far as the seat-sharing deal of MNM is concerned with its allied partners, All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi and Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi.

Makkal Needhi Maiam had already stated that they will be going into alliances with AISMK as well as IJK. I am also learning that AISMK’s leader R. Sarathkumar had already approached Kamal Haasan just last week and talked about possible seat chatting talks and as well alliance talks to which Haasan was yet to respond.

But on March 08, 2021, the Makkal Needhi Maiam posted a statement and told that they are not only will be contesting a majority, but they will also be giving seats to both these parties.

And this comes at a time when seat-sharing talks between several parties here in the city of Tamil Nadu are yet to be signed. I am seeing the All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi, and several other parties as well with ongoing talks regarding seat-sharing alliances with several other parties.

Now with Makkal Needhi Maiam saying that they have given seats to both AISMK and Indhiya. Makkal Needhi Maiam has officially confirmed its alliance with these two partners, but also students.

MNM also stated that this is not only going to be the only two alliances. Most likely there are also talks underway. They are currently is interviewing its candidates that it will see fit to stand in the 2021 Legislative Assembly elections.

So with the interviews ongoing on one side and with alliance talks going on on the other the Makkal Needhi Maiam as of now is not only looking at seat chatting talks, it is also looking at as well as candidates who they will use.

With the finalization of the seat-sharing pact, MNM also officially declaring that it will be fighting the elections with so many parties.
