Leaders Of 13 Opposition Parties Urge Modi Govt To Provide Free Vaccine For All

New Delhi, May 3, 2021 – The first line of treatment against Coronavirus. And right now India’s gasping for it. A joint statement has been released by leaders of 13 opposition parties urging the prime minister to ensure the uninterrupted flow of oxygen supplies to all hospitals and health centers across the country. The signatories include Congress national president Sonia Gandhi, Shiv Sena Chief, Udhav Thackrey, Chief Minister Bengal Mamata Banerjee, and NCP chief Sharad Pawar. Leaders of 13 national and regional parties have requested the central government to launch a free mass vaccination program.
In the statement leaders called upon the central government to utilize a budget of 35,000 crores for free mass vaccination that has been allocated for the vaccination program. The huge shortage of oxygen has hit India at a critical juncture. When the country’s reporting about four lakh cases in last two days, and fighting a ferocious battle against the second wave.
The Congress Party has been making a lot of noise about. The way the center has handled the pandemics. We’ve seen many videos, the number of statements by the Congress Party even former prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh guiding the government. But these statements, videos, messages have not even been acknowledged by the Center so far. It’s important to see as to whether the Government responds to this one because this is a joint statement. Remember, another statement by former prime minister H. D. Deve Gowda was acknowledged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.

But it remains to be seen as to whether the government will respond to this joint statement more constructively. And also we’ve not seen any meeting of the Prime Minister with the opposition party leaders over the pandemic over the second wave of the pandemic. We saw one last such meeting happening during the first wave in which the Prime Minister had briefed the opposition party leaders but not in the second day so far.
But as the government is overwhelmed with the kind of surge the COVID pandemic has seen in the second phase, particularly the month of April, but this is very significant. The BJP has been pushed to the wall in the opposition parties see an opportunity to corner the government over its pandemic.
