Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat’s Ripped Jeans Sexist Remark on a Woman

The Chief Minister of Uttrakhand Tirath Singh Rawat seems to be objecting to ripped jeans. That’s the statement that has been made by the newly appointed Chief Minister of Uttrakhand. Tirath Singh Rawat has coated a controversy by questioning the Tradition/Sanskaar or morality of women who wear ripped jeans.

The chief minister said he was shocked to meet an NGO woman wearing ripped jeans while on a flight with children. Expressing his indignation the chief minister linked the attire of a woman to question her values terming rip jeans as scissor culture. He further blamed the concept of Western culture on India’s youth.

CM Tirath Singh Rawat’s comments did not go down well with many artists, Politicians, activists, and other people. Many women took to Twitter (#RippedJeansTwitter) to post photos of themselves in ripped jeans in defiance of the chief minister’s sexist remarks. Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has also shared a Photo of herself in Ripped Jeans on Twitter.

This entire idea of the BJP party and their elected CM has been that of trying to justify judge women based on the clothes that they wear. We’ve seen the Haryana Chief Minister ‘Manohar Lal Khattar’ do that.

We have seen the Goa former chief minister do that. We are now seeing the Uttrakhand Chief Minister doing that. It just goes on to show their anti-women mindset and also shows how they are scared of women who feel empowered enough to step out of their homes in clothes of their choices.
