WhatsApp Updated New Privacy Policy, User Can Accept Now Or Accept Later

California – Earlier this year WhatsApp updated its privacy policy to share business communication with its parent company Facebook. No fear over Facebook’s access to private messages created a significant uproar. However, the company has made it clear that the changes do not affect personal and private information.
Additional data like contact lists are not shared either. The public outcry over the policy changes, however, led the company to defer the rollout from February 8 to May 15. Now WhatsApp has once again detailed exactly how the rollout of the updated privacy policy will begin.
WhatsApp claims that come 15th may no user account will be deleted or deactivated in case they have not accepted the user policy. Users will, however, be constantly reminded to accept the policy. Both users who have accepted the policy, as well as new users on the platform, will be automatically signing up for these updated terms and conditions.

For those who have not the reminder, notification will become persistent notification after a few weeks of usage at which point functionality will be limited to just answering the incoming phone and video calls, users will no longer be able to access their tracklist.
Now finally, after a few more weeks of use, if a user still refuses to accept the policy, Whatsapp will eventually block all functionality including receiving calls and messages. Now it’s worth noting that WhatsApp completely removes inactive accounts after 120 days.
All in all, should you choose to stay on the platform, it is only a matter of time you will have to accept the change terms. It remains to be seen. If alternative apps like privacy focus messengers, like Signal and Telegram, will once again get a boost in user figures to come May 15.
