Political Career
Achsanul Qosasi started his political career as a member of the Golkar Party, the ruling party during the New Order regime of Suharto. He held various positions in the party, such as the head of the youth wing, the deputy secretary-general, and the deputy treasurer. He also served as the deputy chairman of the MPR faction of Golkar from 2004 to 2009.
In 2009, he ran for a seat in the DPR as a candidate of the PKPI, a splinter party from Golkar. He won the election and became a member of the DPR for the 2009-2014 period. Controversy and Legal Issues
Achsanul Qosasi is currently facing a corruption allegation in relation to a project to construct BTS for 4G internet in remote areas of Indonesia, which was led by the Kominfo. The project, which was worth Rp 21.6 trillion ($1.5 billion), was allegedly marred by irregularities and collusion that caused a state loss of Rp 8 trillion ($560 million).
