Biography
Bugri Naabu was born in 1968 (age: 55 years, as of 2023) in Nalerigu, a town in the Mamprugu traditional area. He grew up in the palace of the Nayiri, the overlord of Mamprugu, where he learned the customs and traditions of his people. He attended the Nalerigu Baptist Primary School and later the Nalerigu Secondary School, where he completed his Ordinary Level certificate. He then proceeded to the Tamale Polytechnic, where he obtained a diploma in Business Studies.
Career and Politics
Bugri Naabu started his career as an employee of Ghana Airways in Tamale, where he worked from 1964 to 1972. He then ventured into the construction business and became a contractor in 1976. He was elected as the regional chairman of the Ghana Contractors Association in the then-Upper Region. He also became the national chairman of the National Contractors Association in 1987.
Naabu’s political journey began in 1983, when he was arrested by the AFRC government of Jerry John Rawlings and detained for seven months.
