Biography
Dr Chandrashekhar Singh was born in 1977 (age: 46 years, as 2023) in a Rajput family in Odisha. His father was an army officer and his mother was a homemaker. He has two brothers and a sister. He completed his schooling from Delhi Public School and then pursued his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Silchar. He was always interested in civil services and decided to prepare for the UPSC exam after his graduation.
He cleared the UPSC exam in his first attempt in 1990 and joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in Bihar. He served in various districts of Bihar and handled many sensitive and challenging cases. He also received many awards and commendations for his exemplary work as a police officer.
However, he was not satisfied with his career as an IPS officer and wanted to do something more for the society. He decided to quit the IPS and pursue higher studies in Public Health. He obtained his MBBS degree from Patna Medical College and Hospital and then his MD in Preventive and Social Medicine from AIIMS, New Delhi. He also did his PhD in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, USA.
Dr Chandrashekhar Singh then appeared for the UPSC exam again in 2009 and secured the 7th rank at the all-India level. He opted for the IAS and was allotted the Bihar cadre. He joined the IAS in 2010 and since then, he has been serving the people of Bihar with utmost dedication and sincerity.

Career and Achievements
