Draupadi Murmu Career- Politician, Teacher, Presidential Candidate
Before entering politics and winning elections Draupadi Murmu was living the life of an assistant professor. She has served as an assistant professor at Shri Aurobindo Integral Education And Research Centre, Rajgangpur. She then also served in the Irrigation department of Odisha as a junior assistant from 1979 to 1983. Draupadi then decided to quit her teaching job and other government jobs in 1983.
She entered politics in 1997. In 1997 Murmu become the councilor of the Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat. From here her journey to become a great politician began. Murmu also got elected as the national vice-president of Bhartiya Janata Party Scheduled Tribes Morcha. From March 6, 2000, to August 6, 2002, she was appointed as the Minister of State with Independent Charge for Commerce and Transport in Odisha. From August 6, 2002, to May 16, 2004, she serves as the Minister of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development.
In 2000 she won the elections of the Odisha Legislative Assembly and remained MLA from Rairangpur Constituency. Following her political career, Draupadi Murmu also became the governor of Jharkhand state. On May 18, 2015, Draupadi started serving as a Governor of Jharkhand and continued her service till 12th July 2021.
She has been stated as the first Tribal female politician from Odisha who has served as a governor in an Indian State. And now if she will win the Presidential Elections in 2022 then she will become the first Tribal woman in India to serve as the President of India.
