He attended St. Michael’s Primary School, Okeho, and Okeho Grammar School, Okeho, for his primary and secondary education respectively. He then proceeded to the University of Benin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Diplomacy in 1985. He also holds a diploma in Police Management (DPM) from the University of Jos, which he obtained in 1998.

Career in the Police Force

Fatai Owoseni joined the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet inspector in 1986. He rose through the ranks and became a commissioner of police in 2014. He served in various commands and formations, including the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCIID), Abuja, where he was in charge of General Investigations.

He also served as the commissioner of police in Lagos State from July 2015 to September 2017, where he was instrumental in combating crime and maintaining law and order in the commercial hub of the country. He was later deployed to Benue State as the commissioner of police in September 2017, at the height of the herdsmen and farmers clashes that claimed many lives and displaced thousands of people. He was able to restore peace and security in the state through his proactive and professional approach. He retired from the police force on December 29, 2018, after 35 years of meritorious service.
