Born in Lucknow the veteran Lyricist Mrs. Maya belongs to good family background. She was living in Lucknow when she completed her education. Since her young, she was good at writing poems, poetries, and books.
Before shifting to Mumbai to pursue her career as a songwriter Maya Govind completed her graduation from Kanya Vaidik Inter College and then B.ED.
She passed out B. ED because her family always wanted her to become a teacher. Even she also remained a teacher for a few years and taught Music, Hindi, and History subjects to students of Bal Vidya Mandir.
Maya has also learned singing by doing four years singing diploma from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth, Lucknow. Maya has also learned Kathak from Shambu Maharaj.
Earlier she has also worked in Sangeet Natak Akademi Lucknow Hindi Version of Vijay Tendulkar’s play Titled ‘Khamosh.‘ She worked in this play as an actress and got the award in the category of Best Acting. Adding more then she has also won the All India Drama Competition in Delhi.

She also got the opportunity to record two Mujras with R Chandra for his movie ‘Mushaira’ composed by the legend Khayyam. But due to the death of Mr. R Chandra, none of these three movies were released in theatres.

Maya Govind Death/Passed Away/ Death Cause
Legendary Lyricist and Poet Mrs. Maya Govind Wife of Ram Govind died on 7th April 2022. The news of her death was officially confirmed by her son Arjun.
Arjun posted on her Facebook page that her mother died on 7th April morning near 9:30 AM. He shared that she was facing health issues for the last 4 months as there was a blood clot in her brain. For the last five months, she has been hospitalized twice for treatment and remained in ICU.
When she died she was in her residence at Juhu alongside her husband, son, and other family members.

Getting acknowledged by Bollywood legends Maya got a call from Ramanand Sagar to Visit Mumbai and write a song for his movie ‘Jalte Badan’ released in 1973. From her work with Ramanand Sagar, she made more connections in the industry as a Lyricist, and then she got signed for the movie ‘Aarop’ by Guru Dutt’s brother Mr. Atma Ram.
Earlier in the movie ‘Jalte Badan’ the song ‘Wada Bhool Na Jaana’ written by Maya become the die heart favorite of the people.
In the movie, ‘Aarop’ all the songs she wrote remained the best songs written by her in her long career. Song ‘Karale Saaf Karale’ written by Maya Govind and sung by Usha Mangeshkar and Mehmood got the 28th position at the Binaca Geetmala’s annual program.
