Why was Pawan Khera Arrested? Controversy

According to the Indian Express, n FIR was filed against senior Congress leader Pawan Khera for his recent remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the Assam Police took him into custody on February 23, 2023, from the Delhi airport. Prior to his departure from an IndiGo flight to Raipur, where he was scheduled to attend the party’s plenary session, Khera was deplaned.

However, the Congress leader was granted interim bail until February 28 and the Supreme Court asked Assam and Uttar Pradesh to respond to his request to combine the numerous FIRs that had been filed against him.

As per the sources, Khera referred to the Prime Minister as “Narendra Gautamdas Modi” during a press conference in Delhi to demand that the Adani Group be investigated by a joint parliamentary committee (JPC). He made the statement while criticizing the BJP government for the dispute involving the Gautam Adani-led business conglomerate.
