Siddique Kappan (born b/w 1978-1980) is an Idian journalist, writer, and entrepreneur from Kerala, India. According to the sources, Siddique Kappan is a senior journalist in Kerala and also a member of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ). Siddique is known for his work in his state.
As per the media reports, The Mathura police arrested Siddique Kappan and three other people on 5th October 2020 on their way to Hathras village. Let me tell you that, he was traveling to Hathras to meet the rape victim’s family members. On 21 April 2021, he was tested positive for COVID-19 along with other 50 inmates of the Mathura Jail.
After tested positive, he admitted to KM Medical College, Mathura. On 25 April 2021, according to the statement of his wife Rayanath Kappan that Siddiqui is handcuffed in the hospital and even he has not given permission to use the toilet. Biography
Journalist, Siddique Kappan was born to his parents in Kerala, India. According to the sources, he was born into a middle-class Muslim family. However, his exact date of birth is not available. According to a guess, Siddique Kappan’s age is around 41-43 years old (as of 2021).
Some media reports say that he is a Delhi native. Moreover, he lived in Kerala along with his family before his arrest. He started focusing on his journalism career, after completing his higher education. He serves the position of a journalist for a long-time.

According to the sources, Siddique Kappan got married to his wife named “Raihanath Kappan”. He belongs to the Muslim religion. Talking about his children then, Siddique is the father of three kids named “Mehnaz Kappan” (daughter), “ Zidane Kappan” (son), and “Muzzammil Kappan” (son).
After his arrest, his wife and children requested the government for his release. But so far no news of Kappan’s release from the UP government has been revealed.
Why was Siddique Kappan arrested?
According to the official media reports, Siddique Kappan was arrested by the Mathura Police on 5 October on his way to Hathras. Along with him three other persons named Atiq-ur-Rahman (25), Alam (26), and Masood Ahmed (26), were also arrested by the Police on the same day. According to Mathura police, the other three persons are members of Campus Front of India (CFI).
As per reports, Siddique Kappan was traveling to Hathras to meet the family of a Dalit woman (rape victim of Hathras gang rape). After one day of arrest, police reported that Siddique and the other three persons were charged against the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and other provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
On 3 April 2021, Uttar Pradesh Police’s Special Task Force (STF) accused him of sedition and also said that they are allegedly attempting to incite violence in UP. After that, the case filed them under section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 124A (sedition), and 295A (deliberate and malicious acts).
Siddique Kappan tested positive for COVID-19
On 21st April 2021, news came that the Malayalam journalist, Siddique Kappan, who was arrested by Mathura police on 5 October 2020, has tested positive for COVID-19. Reports also claim that other 50 persons of Mathura jail have also tested positive along with Siddique Kappan.
After this, Kappan admitted to KM Medical College in Mathura. Siddiqui’s wife, Rayanath Kappan, told the media that, her husband is not getting good treatment in the hospital, he has been handcuffed and is not even allowed to use the toilet.
She also said that he is also suffering from heart ailments. After this, Kerala’s CM “Pinarayi Vijayan” requested Yogi Adityanath (UP’s CM) to provide expert medical care to Journalist Siddique Kappan.
