Unfortunately, Vijayakanth passed away on December 28, 2023, at the age of 71, due to pneumonia. He had been suffering from respiratory illness for a long time and was admitted to MIOT Hospital in Chennai on November 30, 2023. He was initially reported to have improved, but his condition worsened later and he succumbed to the infection. His last rites were performed on December 29, 2023, at the DMDK headquarters, where hundreds of fans and party supporters paid their tribute.
